About Liquorice


Liquorice is a herbal plant of which the root is most commonly used for medicinal purposes.

Liquorice is well-known for the treatment of coughs, bronchitis and general chest problems as well as sore throats. It is a mild expectorant and is also used for catarhal conditions of the urinary intestinal tracts.
Liquorice is anti-inflammatory and anti-hepatotoxic and is therefor very effective in the treatment of chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Remember : Liqourice tends to raise the blood pressure and can cause in some cases sodium and water retension. It is however useful for people suffering from low blood pressure; ulcers and diarrhoea.
